The At-Ta'dib Journal was established in 2006 by the Faculty of Tarbiyah, Institute Studi Islam Darussalam (ISID), Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor, Ponorogo, East Java, Indonesia. Get ISSN print (0216-9142) on 2007, and online ISSN (2503-3514) on 2016, from the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI). The first issue was published in June 2006. All articles from 2016 have a Digital Object Identifier (DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.21111/klm.v). This journal gets the DOAJ index on July 27, 2017.

In the first issue up to 2016, the scope of this journal is Islamic Education, but this scope is considered too broad, so in 2017 the scope of the journal At-Ta'dib was focused on Islamic boarding School (Pesantren education).
